Best All-Inclusive Resorts for Toddlers: Why Moon Palace Sunrise is Our Top Pick
Traveling with a two-year-old means you need manageable walking distances, early dinners, and pools that keep their attention. Here is the hack that saved our sanity.
When you are traveling with a toddler, the word "resort" can sound more like a punishment than a vacation. Long walks between rooms and restaurants? Not going to happen. Crowded buffets with unpredictable food? No thanks.
After a few trips, we figured out that Moon Palace Sunrise is the sweet spot for families with little ones. The rooms are close to everything, the pools are calm, and the staff are used to kids. We also learned a trick that saves us hundreds: book a standard Sunrise room and buy a day pass to The Grand water park only when we need it.
This guide focuses specifically on surviving (and enjoying) the resort with a toddler. If you want a complete breakdown of every restaurant, room tier, and the golf course, check out our full Moon Palace Cancun Family Review.

The short 15-minute transfer from Cancun Airport was a lifesaver.
The Ultimate Hack: Sunrise Rooms + The Grand Water Park Day Pass
Staying at the Sunrise or Nizuc sections is significantly more budget-friendly than The Grand, and you still get access to 17 restaurants and 2 Playrooms. The walking distances are shorter, the pools are less crowded, and the vibe is way more relaxed.
The hack? You can purchase a day pass to access Moon Palace The Grand's water park just for the days you need it. This means you do not have to pay the full premium for a Grand room, but you still get the big slides and lazy river when the kids are ready for it.
Which Sunrise Building Should You Pick?
Not all Sunrise rooms are created equal. If the goal is to be as close to the kids club as possible, request the Water Melon building. For us, we preferred the Mango building because it sat right in between the kids club, the main lobby, and the pool—no long treks with a tired toddler.
Definitely do not request the Tequila, Sombrero, Sun (or Sol), Beach (Playa), or Piñata unless you specifically want to be away from everything. Those buildings are quieter, but you will spend a lot of time walking or waiting on the shuttle to get anywhere.

We stayed in the Mango building and it was perfectly positioned between the pool, lobby, and Playroom.
The Room Setup That Actually Works
For our family of four, we just booked a normal room with a king bed and then requested two rollaway beds at check-in. It sounds simple, but it is the best value in the entire resort. The rollaways fit comfortably, the kids get their own space, and you save hundreds of dollars compared to upgrading to a family suite.
A standard Sunrise room with two rollaway beds gave us everything we needed for under a week with the kids.

The Splash Zone at The Grand has perfect mini-slides and water jets for toddlers.
Escaping the Heat: The Playroom and Toddler-Friendly Food
The Playroom is amazing for beating the midday sun. It is a lifesaver when your toddler has had enough sun and needs a break. The Sunrise Playroom is actually bigger than the one at Nizuc, and there is a nice toddler splash pool right nearby that is perfect for little ones who are not ready for the big water park yet. They also do activities with the toddlers throughout the day, so it is not just a free-for-all.
One thing to know: the kids club, known as The Playroom at Moon Palace, accepts children ages 4 to 12 for fully supervised independent drop-off. Children under 4 are welcome to use the space, but they must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian at all times. We still found it totally worth it with a two-year-old—there are games, a movie theater, and plenty of space to run around while you sit nearby.

The Sunrise Playroom was our afternoon go-to. Clean, shaded, and staffed by people who actually engage with the kids.
And the food? Moon Palace has an actual baby puree program. Their "Executive Baby Puree Team" will make fresh, salt-free, no-seasoning purees right at the resort. The menu includes banana, pear, apple, potato, carrot, zucchini, pumpkin, broccoli, and chicken—with apple, carrot, and chicken being the most popular. If you want something else, like sweet potato, just ask and they will prepare it if it is available.
Here is how it works: you can order through the Palace Resorts app or let the concierge know what your baby needs. They will arrange a one-on-one chat with the chef to go over allergies and preferences, and with just two hours' notice the puree is delivered straight to your table or your room. No more packing a cooler full of baby food.

The fresh puree arrived at our table with zero advance planning—just a quick note to the waiter.
Ready to check dates for your family?
We always recommend booking directly through the resort to secure the best family packages and resort credits. We have booked through The Palace Company three times now, and each time we got a better room category than what was shown on third-party sites.
