Surviving Atlantis: The Aquaventure Strategy.

The slides are massive, the grounds are exhausting, and the food is pricey. Here is how we used our Comfort Suites access to beat the crowds and actually enjoy the water park.

The Wristband Routine

Staying next door at Comfort Suites means you get full Atlantis access, but you still have to acquire your daily wristbands. Do not sleep in. Our strategy: one adult walked over to the Atlantis kiosk first thing in the morning to get the bands sorted while the other wrangled the kids at the free hotel breakfast. Getting into the park right when it opens is the only way to grab chairs in the shade without paying a ridiculous daily fee for a cabana.

The Rides & The Reality Check

The official map doesn't do justice to how huge this property is. You will walk miles on hot concrete. The Rapid River is an absolute must-do—it is intense and totally different from a standard lazy river—but the lines for the iconic slides like the Leap of Faith get miserable by 11:00 AM. Hit the big slides the second the park opens, then spend the crowded afternoon floating the river and checking out the underground aquariums.

The Food Strategy

The Atlantis Lunch Trap: Food inside Aquaventure is incredibly expensive for what it is. Because we took full advantage of the heavy, free breakfast at Comfort Suites, we were able to just split a generic pizza by the pool for a late lunch. It saved our budget for a much better dinner outside the resort gates.

The Gear We Actually Use

We don't pack light, but we pack smart. These items survive our family trips, save our sanity, and keep the kids entertained.
